I have known Dr. Kelly Lewis-Arthur for 20 years as a valuable colleague and as a friend. There are many wonderful, yet necessary traits of psychologists such as empathic, intelligent, ethical, and others. However, one of her most enduring and endearing qualities that remains consistent in her movement between our collegial/consultative roles and our friendship is her nonjudgemental stance on all matters. Simply put, she employs the aforementioned traits in supporting others through situations that are both positive or negative with the same goal–to be supportive and helpful. Again, it’s been two decades, and she’s not waivered yet!
Over the years, I have made referrals to Dr. Lewis-Arthur and/or her clinical consultants based on the patient’s/clients’ clinical needs and GlobeCore’s practitioners’ clinical skill sets. Whether the needs were academic, spiritual, familial, or explicitly cultural, the practice has been highly responsive and effective in supporting patients’/clients’ growth. While it may be redundant to say that Dr. Lewis-Arthur and her team have been known to collaborate with their clients coming from varied cultural backgrounds, they have also systematically used a multicultural lens to view any and all of clients’ concerns, not just those that were explicitly about acculturation. Based on that, I will continue to refer persons in need of services to GlobeCore, and have no reason to think that this standard of excellence will ever be compromised under Dr. Lewis-Arthur’s leadership.
